دستاورد ها و افتخارات

  • International Records:
  1. 158 hepatitis B virus core gene sequences cited in GenBank (the highest number of submitted HBcAg to international database).
  2. Hepatitis B virus genotyping based on Core gene sequencing (as an alternative approach to either surface and/or complete genome sequencing).
  3. Chairing 12 seminars and 2 international workshops during 2005-2010-Scientific manager of 7th ISACL congress (2014)- International coordinator of Tehran Hepatitis Congress (THC3 to THC6) during 2010-2015 and Congress on innovative technology in lab diagnostics (2016 and coming congress on October 2017).

  • Research Background:
  1. 1998-early 2000: my project involved applying FTO.9.1 (Rat hepatoma cell line with a construction contained human Annexin V gene) using category III facility for study of biology of the HBV variants.
  2. 1999-2001: I did some works on HBV-positive sera obtained from HBV-infected patients from 14 different countries for HB core gene variation. All sequences submitted to the Genbank.
  3. 2000-2003: During the PhD course, I investigated the intracellular distribution of HBcAg correlation with the sequence variation in different phases of chronic infection. Using PCR-based site-direct mutagenesis methods, I have found some exciting results on the effect of core protein mutations on its cellular localization.
  4. 2003: Receiving some extracted DNA materials from different population of Pacific islands, HBV genome sequenced and analysed for the study of HBV core gene variability and the pattern of human immigration through South-East Asia.
  5. 2003-2004: As a part time scientist, I was involved in direct sequencing of DNA and phylogenetic analysis using different soft wares. As part team work, I had been involved in liaising with other colleagues in the UK regarding hepatitis A, influenza and enterovirus sequence analysis.
  6. 2005-2015: As an associate professor, I have been involved in more than 24 national research projects especially on hepatitis B virus.
  7. 2015-2019: I am engaged in the application of multiples and highthroughput diagnostic systems for microbial diseases diagnostics. During this period, as the chairman of “National Network for Molecular Diagnosis”, I have been organizing 38 meetings and congresses entitled “Application of Real Time PCR for Infectious Diseases Diagnostics” .
  8. 2020-Present: As the director of research center for clinical virology and also, the president of Iranian Network for Research in Viral Diseases, I have been engaged in multiple national research projects on Covid-19 epidemiological and clinical aspects. These projects are still on going.
